Waterhouse - Study For a Naiad

Shadow Walk

Her shadow walks at night
He hears her silent whispers
He feels her soul on his skin
Her touch still lingers within

Shadows walk at night
Flowing curtains of darkness
Small glimpses of the unseen
Whispers on the wind

Shadows walk at night
Beckoning the spirit to follow
Fleeting view of the unknown
Whispers on the wind

Shadows walk at night
Free from the confines of light
The pull on the soul, so strong
Whispers on the wind

Her shadow walks at night
His spirit follows…

Waterhouse - Study For a Naiad

Tree Gnomes

Something there is about the night … a curtain of darkness that quells the noise of the day … and we sense a vibrant world just slightly out of our view.  Shadows pull at our senses, beckoning our spirit to follow … freed from the confines of harsh light … the pull is strong, but is it enough.

Can’t sleep tonight – feel like going for a walk…

Walking along the path through the woods to the lake … trees cast shadows from the moonlight … soft buzzing noises abound … sounds of footsteps.  Rustling noises … branches creaking … a slight breeze … a growl, I think .  It’s hard to tell … senses alert.

The smell of moisture is in the air … the sound of water washing up against a shore … must be near the lake … a loud crash to my left and … wonder if squirrels are awake this late … something is definitely awake in the woods – hopefully, not one of my gator friends … almost at the lake…

Ah – moonlight on the lake – magic.

Small glowing lights moving about in the water … must be reflections of the moonlight on something moving; fish perhaps…  A smile as I turn back – I notice the tree gnomes gathered around a couple of oak trees near the shore. .. did one just move?

It’s a good night…
